We had a wonderful tour of the Carpineti Castle rich in History from the 10th century. It is very unusul for a woman to have such power during this period, she constructed a Romanesque Church which became the centre of Christianity for over half a century. In 1077 Pope Gregory the 7th met with Matilda to discuss if the war with the Emporer. Matilda died in 1115 at age 69. The castle is now owned by by the Province of Reggio Emelia and was restored in the 1990'sSunday, May 10, 2009
